My solution to the animal sacrifice debate!!

current mood: determined

I have figured out how to make peace in the community!! Please gentle sirs hear me.

I suggest that we sacrifice a live Tofurky. We can fill it with cherry jello and shoot it!! I imagine that it would be very messy but it would even be messier to continue this horrible fighting!! I love all of my animal sacrificing and non-animal sacrificing brethren. Please let's use a Tofurky!! A live Tofurky.

I love you all!! Please think about this, for the gods of Hellas!!!

Pets in ritual!

February 22nd, 2006 (09:25 pm)
anxious

current mood: anxious

I had a wonderful Anthesteria as I hope that everyone did! I have
been making an effort since to perform more Hellenic ritual at
home. Since the only other member of my household is my cat whom I
aptly named Mercury, Mercury attends my rituals with me.

Of course, I have been trying to be observant of purification and
eliminating miasma! But you try to bathe a cat or get one to wash
their paws before ritual. It doesn't work!! So I have been
sprinkling water on Mercury, which has caused my cat to shake and
sneeze!!

I have read accounts at Delphi of the sacrificing of goats, and how
they were sprinkled with water, and they would shake to let the
priests know that it consented to be sacrificed!! Have I been
unintentionally been signaling to the gods that I wanted my cat to
be sacrificed?? I sincerely hope not! But what could this omen
mean? Should I find another way to purify Mercury before praying to
the gods?? I can't kick my cat out of ritual that would be too
cruel! I wish to observe both xenia and elimination of miasma.
Help me, good sirs!

Anthesteria!

February 10th, 2006 (07:17 am)

What are people doing for the Anthesteria??

I am leaving out libations and food offerings tonight, but I am
going to only leave them out overnight this time! The last time I
left food out for more than a day, I came back to find many many
ants!! At first I wondered if the gods had taken ant form and were
eating the offerings, and I tried desperately to see if any of the
gods were associated with ants. I did find some interesting things
on the Myrmidons but nothing about the gods associated with them.
But I realized that the ants were spreading everywhere like the
plague!! So I prayed to Apollo that he rid me of this plague, and
left out ant traps. The ants were gone in less than a week! Apollo
be praised!

I think tonight I will drink and compose poetry. This is less
likely to produce ants. I hate ants.

Aphrodite Kallipugos!

February 9th, 2006 (09:46 am)
ecstatic

current mood: ecstatic

I tried to find records last night online of honor being paid to Aphrodite's toes, but all I kept getting were foot fetish websites.

But! I was surprised and elated to discover that Aphrodite had the epithet Kallipugos meaning well shaped buttocks!! Does anyone know if there was a cult dedicated to the worship of her buttocks?? Of course I cannot remove parts of her statue, so I went to a "toy" shop and produced what I considered to be a very shapely model of a woman's buttocks and have placed it on my altar.

Aphrodite Kallipugos be praised! I am so thrilled that I have posted this to the Hellenic_Pagan list too!

And I am in awe!! Reading this has really opened my eyes on so many things! I feel closer now to the gods than ever, and determined to honor them as they see fit! No throwing Zeus under the bus for me!

Finally I'm here!!

current mood: nostalgic

Looking through all of the fellow Hellenic journals on here brings back fond memories. I recall back when I could not afford to buy a bust of Athena! I wound up buying a wig and a bowling ball at a yard sale. It wasn't much, but it was Athena to me.

I am so excited!! I look forward to talking to everyone. Ononion seems nice, and we were born on the same day! What happened to her/him? Never posts anymore.
